St. Athanasius’ relics relocated by H.H. Pope Tawadros II and many Metropolitans and Bishops

With great joy H.H. Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the see of St. Mark, along with a great number of Metropolitans and Bishops of the Holy Synod, have relocated the relics of the defender of all Orthodoxy, the great Patriarch and Saint Athanasius the Apostolic. The relics were located along with St. Mark the Apostle’s relics but now they have their own place, not far from it, still within the premises of the Grant Cathedral of St. Mark in Cairo.

Pope Tawadros II ordains 18 priests to serve in Cairo and abroad

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II ordained 18 new priests in the St. Mark Cathedral in Cairo. This is another of a string of many ordinations the patriarch has conducted since the time of his enthronement. His Holiness has already ordained bishops on two separate occasions, with a third soon to come.

17 of the 18 priests that were ordained will serve in Egypt, and 1 in the United States.

Pope Tawadros appoints a Papal Secretary for North America

Pope Tawadros II issued Papal decision No. 35 appointing Hegumen Saraphim Al Souriany, a Papal Secretary for North America. He will be based in Cedar Grove in New Jersey, USA.

Fr Saraphim Al Souriany was a candidate for the Papacy. After His Holiness was chosen by Divine altar ballot as the 118th Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, he appointed Fr Saraphim as a Papal secretary for the diaspora.
